Not for the Fainthearted

The kids are in the process of learning about simple animals, namely...worms.
After their lesson this afternoon, Alyssa, Emma, Abigail, and Julianna reluctantly gathered around while I dissected an earthworm.
I have to admit it definitely made me squirm! In fact, I'm still feeling a little nauseous! To top it off, our worms were a little small, too small to really examine their organs. It just looked
like brown and white mush. Maybe my X-acto blade was too
dull. Oh well, guess we have to do it again! (Yuk!)

Julz...that totally sounds like you. Oh my. But the only part that does not is that you got queezy? Perhaps the thought of templeton upstairs doesn't bother you? but a stupid, oh sorry, s-t-u-p-i-d worm does? The part I laughed out loud at was the non-challant way you said, perhaps the xacto blade was too dull..did you buy a new one or just use one in that drawer in the kitchen with all the other stuff in it? So, funny..really.

That's funny : ) I don't mind most animals, but some insects really make me cringe. Worms are one of them. Yep. I'd take a furry rat any day rather than cutting into a squishy earthworm!

Oh, and Lisa...you know me too well. The X-acto was from my scrapbooking box. heehee ; ) It was left over from college days, but still cut paper great! (Had a hard time getting through worm flesh with it though.) And yes, I threw away the blade after we used it. It was totally gross.

Girl, you gotta get on of those really big worms! You know, like we had in highschool??? The worst ever I thought was the grasshopper! Yucko!!

Haha! Ya got any, Lindsay? I'm holding off from buying any. Otherwise I would buy them from here: http://sargentwelch.com/search.asp?ss=earthworm&x=0&y=0, but I'm too cheap.
Soooo... Alyssa dug ours up in the yard somewhere. And guess who had to kill them? Yep, me. But I can't talk about it. It was terrible. Blech.

No pun intended that dissecting an earthworm made you squirm? :)
